One reservation I always regretted not being able to snag while living in NYC was Sadelle’s, a member of the illustrious major food group (MFG). Unlike every other restaurant I have tried from MFG, which are all Italian, Sadelle’s draws its inspiration from a classic Jewish deli. The pictures of bagels and fish towers that scattered my Instagram during Sunday morning brunch were enough for me to check this place out. However, with further investigation, I realized getting a res would prove rather tricky. Sadly, in May of 2022 when I left New York, Sadelle’s was still on my must-try list.
While Vegas may not be the best for someone like me who doesn’t like gambling, clubbing, or going to shows nightly, my appeal to Sin City is the abundance of popular restaurants. With places like Nobu, Carbone, Momofuku, and countless more, it makes Vegas the perfect place to try everything all at once. One of the numerous offerings includes Sadelle’s, located at the Bellagio. So in my somewhat obsessive planning for Vegas, snatching a Sunday brunch reservation was at the top of my list.
When I arrived at Sadelle’s there was a line of about 40 people waiting for a table, which made me slightly nervous even with a reservation. At first, I thought all these people also had reservations, but with a closer look at the fine print of a sign, there was a much shorter line for reservations. The open-air concept of Sadelle’s allows onlookers to get a glimpse before going inside, which may have been part of the reason for the long walk-in line.
However, the restaurant truly comes alive once fully inside. The walls are painted with a lush light blue that gives the space a bright atmosphere, only complimented by the flower arrangements and plants spread throughout. The old New York-style striped pink booths with emerald wall sconces and crown-molded ceilings scattered with crystal chandeliers allow patrons to become fully immersed in the world of Sadelle’s. At this point, I didn’t care if the food was the worst thing I had ever eaten, I was already sold solely by the design itself.
Unfortunately, I might have manifested this for myself because the food was just ok. While there wasn’t anything bad, there was also nothing to write home about. I got the Western Omelette which came with dry bread in a bagel costume because no levelheaded person could call that a real bagel. Given how much the decor made it feel like a true east coast restaurant I wanted the bagel to be the same, but I guess the lack of New York water stopped that from happening. My omelette itself was an omelette, it was eggs, veggies, and cheese, but I could make the exact same thing at home. Yet when leaving, I was in no way disappointed by the meal I had just had, because even with food that wasn’t my favorite, the ambiance, and character that Sadelle’s Vegas gives make it worth the trip.
